Jianne Carlo, Hades Squad 4: Demon Seed
|
“You speak English flawlessly.” With a hint
of an Irish accent. Intriguing.
“Gracias. Languages are easy. Not like the physics.”
What a half-assed conversation to be having in the middle of the ocean
with a woman he’d just rescued from certain gang rape, being shot, and who
knew what else. A curvy, luscious female whose virginity he’d just taken in
front of four armed men. Talk about the best laid plans backfiring; Demon’s
carefully plotted plan to capture the man who abused him, Pedro Nunez aka The
Smiling Killer, was not off to a good start.
“What’s your name?”
“Jacinta Nunez.”
Jacinta claims to have lived her whole life in a cloistered convent.
Claims she’s an orphan. Claims she’s only lived in the outside world for
fifty-seven days. Yet she’s the mirror image of Pedro’s sister, Rosa. The
sister Pedro murdered fifty-seven days ago.
There are no coincidences in life. Not for a SEAL.
Is Jacinta Pedro’s ultimate revenge on Demon?

Blurb/Summary:
A casualty of funding wars and an overzealous Defense Department trying to clean up its reputation after several failed experimental programs, the Psychic Warfare Program (PWP) is scrapped in its infancy. Its participants are transferred to other defense agencies, but a few decide to leave the government behind, knowing full well their freedom hinges on keeping a low profile and living under the radar.
Chloe King has worked for the government ever since she left college. First as a cop, then as an agent, she's been putting away the bad guys for more than ten years. A clairaudient who’s always been able to escape trouble at the last minute, she’s now part of a group of people who understand what it means to be different, but now she's with a private organization, without the government's protection. She should be working less dangerous cases, trying to retrieve paranormal objects gone missing. Yet her luck has taken a turn for the worse.
She’s just getting over being nearly murdered by a serial killer when a stalker nearly brings her down. The voices she’s heard more than half her life have disappeared, and she’s afraid her life is coming to an end. If she can’t hear those voices again, she’ll die. She can feel it. But she never counted on the voices being real. Or belonging to two strong, sexy men resolved to keep her for themselves.

Review:
Whispered Words: A Power Up! Story by Marie Harte led me once again into the PWP world. Chloe finds she must leave on hiatus to find her voices, the ones that have quieted while formulating a plan to stay one step ahead of a stalker trying his best to assassinate her.
During her travel she runs into two men who’ve helped her before, Xavier and Josh. Attraction is at an all-time high and Chloe finds she craves both powerful men. Keeping passion locked away proves impossible. Xavier and Josh consume her thoughts, and she theirs as well and not in just a ‘psychic’ way.

Blurb/Summary:
Previous Book: It Came Upon a Midnight Clear
As head of the Werner Dairy Farm empire, Teagan Werner has no time for nonsense in his life and even less time for love. When a sexy sable-haired vixen shows up demanding he sell some of his land to her non-profit organization, he's both incensed and intrigued by her display of strength and determination. Quickly it becomes apparent that ignoring his attraction to her won't work, but does he really know enough about the woman to trust her with his heart?
A former victim of domestic abuse, Kyrie Hart has seen her share of hardship and she's determined to give others the same opportunity for escape she had. Leery of men but stern in her convictions, she wants not only the property Teagan Werner owns, but the handsome millionaire too. When her resolve to help abused women collides with her need to follow her heart, Kyrie is forced to choose between her cause and her love. Her decision isn't easy and in the end might very well prove to be the biggest mistake of her life.
Review:
Shelter Me by Michelle Cary was one intense read. The visual setting reeled me in with the tranquility of small town comfort. I loved Kyrie and her passionate nature, and gusto at getting her way. I also enjoyed her lack of curiosity with the voyeurism happening between Talon and Abby. It showed well that she came from a rigid society.
Teagan may have been hard headed but from the beginning you could tell he had a good heart and was a dependable man, unlike Kyrie’s ex. As the story developed and I gained glimpses into the domestic abuse and was able to see Teagan’s ignorance, through it I hoped he’d educate himself or try to see what she went through in her eyes. They always say don’t judge a person unless you walk a mile in their shoes. The passion was smoking hot but the smoldering deeper emotions mixed with the physical made for a great read. The ending really had me drooling and thinking damn now that’s one lucky chick.

Blurb/Summary:
Santana Jones barely escaped from the man-turned-wolf that attacked her during a camping trip that she’d won from a local radio station. But it turns out the radio station didn’t have a contest and she didn’t win. Then she meets the Luc who thinks he can detain her while he figures out this so-called mystery. Because of her past, allowing Luc to control her is out of the question even if he is the sexiest thing she’s ever seen and she can barely keep her hands off him.
Luc Delemere, the powerful leader of the North American werewolves, didn’t want a mate because her life would constantly be in danger. But when a bedraggled human crawls out of the icy river and stumbles into his barn, Luc finds it impossible to resist his sensual, but stubborn mate. The claw marks on her body confirm that she was attacked by a werewolf, but Luc wants to know who lured her to his land and why.
When Santana receives a note that says “Leave or Luc Dies,” she betrays Luc to save his life.
Can Luc untangle a web of lies and betrayal to find his mate before the assassin does?
Review:
Santana’s Heat was one steamy roller coaster of story. Luc is clearly smitten with the human who ends up on his property, and while he’s in the middle of taking care of pack business, he’s not blind enough to let her beauty and passionate nature go on the way side. He realizes some danger is lurking for her and can’t just allow her to leave, though she tempts the beast out of him.
Santana is a smart and strong woman who isn’t going to let one attack rule her life, if only she could figure out why someone wants her dead.
She fights off multiple attacks on her life that tie into the sexy man who’s playing host for her.
When she meets a young boy she’s taken back to the past, to a young life she’s not able to save, and will do whatever it takes to make sure this one is okay, even if it means her plans for escape are foiled.
High packed action and white hot passion fill the pages of this story. Things are clearly not what they seam and the answer lay somewhere in the unsaid, in a past repressed and not forgotten for one. Tempers will rise, fighting will ensue. In one instant of clarity it’ll all come together to show the future of the pack and an unconditional love unencumbered by an assassin.
This is one read I’ll dive into again.

Blurb/Summary:
The camera catches the inner soul to a person, catching the hidden emotions we are too afraid to let others see. Daria is one of those people, and just for a brief moment, she lets Lynsay see her how she really is in "The Window of the Soul."
Tempted is the best way to describe Elaine's reaction to leather; especially when it was hugging the tight curves of a woman. She prowled the clubs, secretly thrilling in the view. What she hadn't expected was to run into one of her former students -- a former student with an
interesting ultimatum.
Stacie's lover Amy has arranged things so that she can indulge her exhibitionist streak in a safe environment -- from behind the safety of peepshow booth windows. She gets to be center stage, putting on a show with her lover, without the risk of getting caught. It's an exhibitionist's dream, being watched by every Peeping Tom, Dick and Harriett.
Review:
Private Eyes is a collection of three short stories that explore the boundaries of feminine desire, the limits of lesbian lust, and the taboos of voyeuristic pleasures. The reader’s window into each story is through the eyes of the voyeur, ensuring that we share in that delicious sense of frustrated anticipation, as well as the ultimate realisation of sexual bliss.
The voyeur who invites us into The Window of the Soul is Lynsay, a professional photographer who lives through the lens of her camera. Her latest client is a beautiful, yet plain looking woman named Daria, who has come looking for some boudoir photos. With each flash of the camera, and each item of clothing removed, another layer of Daria’s inhibitions falls to the floor. As the toys come out and the photo session turns from boudoir to pornographic, the sexual tension builds to nearly unbearable heights.
In Tempted it’s a bar-hopping lesbian professor named Elaine who provides us with our voyeuristic window. Having been admiring the bevy of leather-clad dancers from afar, Elaine is stunned (and a little embarrassed) to be confronted by one of her old students. Brittany saw her watching, and promises not to expose the professor’s secret – on the condition that she shares a dance. It’s a dance that quickly moves from reluctant to erotic, and ends with the two women masturbating one another amidst the crowd, as aroused by each other as they are by the potential audience.
Peeping Tom, Dick, and Harriett involves a number of voyeurs, but it’s Amy who provides us with our window into the scene. She and Stacie are lovers, but Stacie is still struggling with her sexual expression. In order to reveal her lover’s true exhibitionist nature, Amy has organized a lesbian peep show – with Stacie as the main attraction. Barely able to keep their hands off one another before the show begins, they descend into wild abandon the moment the lights go. There’s no acting or posturing here, just two women who find their passion reaching new heights with the knowledge that, just a few feet away, an unseen audience is masturbating to their display.
Although too short to offer much in the way of real character development or plot, Michelle defines each of the women beautifully, providing just enough background and context to create erotic and meaningful stories, rather than just individual scenes of sex. Crazy, wild, and undeniably hot, Private Eyes is definitely worth a read.

Blurb/Summary:
Attraction for Adam was not a handsome face, a striking smile, or beautiful eyes, but a scent that would drive him to distraction or a voice that could make his heart beat faster. When the combination of the two walked into his life in Luke, Adam couldn’t help but want him. But how was he supposed to know if Luke felt the same attraction? He had no prior experience, no past encounters, nothing to help him. Not even his sight.
One look at Adam and Luke wanted him. Sensual, gorgeous, kind, with a strength that Luke was drawn to, Adam was everything Luke desired. Being in Adam’s arms, showing him the pleasure of a man’s body, being touched, held, and desired in return, had Luke wanting more, had him wanting what he knew he couldn’t have.
It didn’t matter to him that Adam was blind, but Adam deserved more than someone like him. Luke was a man with a broken past and falling in love with Adam was a foolish thing to do, especially because Adam would never love him back if he found out what Luke was hiding.
Review:
Blind Passion by Penny Brandon was a good read. I enjoyed the premise in the blurb and hoped to be thrilled by the read. The pacing was good for most of the story, but I wanted to get to know Luke sooner than in the end. I loved Adam and was glad that he’d been broken out of his solitary lifestyle and into the real world. Michael proved to be a fantastic brother with how he found Luke’s lost family tying up the story nicely. In the end it was a nice read.

Blurb/Summary:
Calliope Ingalls had it all: a loving Dom who was also her husband, and a great job that took her all over the country. But it all came crashing down when her husband died unexpectedly. Not sure what to do, she retreated inside herself, shutting off everyone as she wished for the impossible. But there was still work to be done.
When Calliope finally agreed to photograph the construction at his new hotel, Silas Hope was thrilled. His attraction to the sub was strong, and he wanted nothing more than to see her bound in his dungeon for both their pleasure.
To do that, though, Silas would have to convince her to open up to him, mind, body and soul. He knew what Calliope liked, because he’d witnessed her submission firsthand. Now all he had to do was get her to let him wrap his ropes around her wrists and put the kiss of his leather on her bottom.
But while the two of them are exploring a new Dom/sub relationship, another force is at work in Augstown, one that shows that some spirits don’t like change...especially when they’ve been around for four hundred years.
Review:
Master of the Sun is an emotion filled and powerful story. The author will have you sobbing and crying throughout the tale. It is a story of loss in every sense, and how hard the journey back to life and living is after the death of a loved one.
Melinda Barron engages all your attention with strong BDSM scenes and characters. The women are realistic and have meat on their bones. The men are dominant, loving alphas. This is quite a serious story, but there is some humor and mystery worked in as well.
Calliope’s journey back to life was also one of self-discovery. It was interesting to follow as her needs and desires overcame her fear and shame. Silas helped bring out the best in Calliope by learning more about her and pushing her limits. The ending leaves the reader hopeful as Calliope finds joy in life again.
Melinda Barron did a wonderful job with this well written story. I would be interested in other creations by this author.

Blurb/Summary:
The afternoon after her divorce, Selena runs into James Culver and has the sex of her life. When she wakes up, he’s gone, leaving her with an unquenched taste for being tied up. A year later she finds herself at Bondage Ranch, wanting for once and for all to come to terms with her kinky desires. She doesn’t expect to find James there, tempting her with his hot kisses and bedroom dominance.
James is surprised to find the woman who has haunted his dreams ever since he left her for an emergency, at Bondage Ranch. He came to Bondage Ranch to find a murderer, not kinky sex, and certainly not to fall in love. But his hunt for the murderer is getting nowhere and he’s getting everywhere with Selena -- until one of the guests at the ranch turns up missing.
Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, BDSM theme and elements, violence.
Review:
Bondage Ranch 3: Moving On, is romance and mystery all in one. I loved the strong Dom James. He was a more tender and loving character than you would at first expect. Selena is easy to love in this story. Her innocence and need to find and own her sexuality will have you captivated. When James helps Selena feel what she’s been fantasizing about, it’s easy to soar with her.
James and Selena share a chemistry and love that is palpable. This story keeps your attention the whole way through. Some of the secondary characters are ones from the previous story Pushing Limits. It was very entertaining to encounter them once more.
The author does a really great job of making her characters seem more realistic. Selena and James have jobs, families, and activities they are a part of that are separate from their sexual exploits. There was a really nice balance to the separation throughout the story.

Treat herself to a carnal weekend at the hedonistic retreat, XTC Resorts? That’s not something Claire Calderwood, a three-time loser in the relationship department, would ordinarily do. But at forty-one, having a successful cleaning business is no longer enough. She wants a chance to let go of all responsibility, submit to a stranger’s sexual demands and satisfy her darkest fantasies.
Jonathon Brierton has known his best friend’s sister long enough to recognize her submissive nature. He would like nothing more than to have Claire bound naked and at the mercy of his flogger as he teaches her the sensual art of obeying her Master. At thirty-something, he’s a successful real estate developer, owner of a BDSM resort—and hopelessly in love with the older woman.
When Claire follows him to his resort, Jonathon is certain he can keep his identity secret long enough to convince her that being restrained in his stocks is something that will satisfy them both. But lies, deceit and broken hearts may not be so easy to overcome.
Review:
The cover itself drew me in. It’s very erotic and beautiful; capturing the imagination. Maid for Master sucks you in at the beginning and doesn’t spit you out until the end. The back and forth interactions between Jon and Claire will have you on the edge of your seat.
The trust and issues that Clair has to work towards and work out, respectively, is captivating as you learn more about her. Jon helps Claire come to terms with what she wants and needs to finally be truly happy.
The erotic BDSM sex scenes are hot and steamy. The connection between Jon and Claire will have you flying through the pages. I devoured this story and just want more of the characters that Nina Pierce has created in Maid for Master. Perhaps Master Ethan will show up later!

Blurb/Summary:
Art of Love Series
Masturbating can be so much fun—especially when you have a one-man audience. Addison loves sex. More importantly, she loves her body and isn’t afraid to make it sing. Add a little voyeurism and it’s totally erotic.
Dante’s muse has stalled—until his sexy neighbor starts seducing him. Through her bedroom window, he watches as her hands caress her tantalizing skin. It’s like something out of a strip club, with his very own personal view. Thanks to this beauty, he’s drawing like wildfire. To thank Addison, Dante sends her an invitation for a single night together. That night may encourages them to draw a new future…together.
Review:
Dante’s Desire was one hot quick read. I enjoyed Addison’s’ self confidence and her exhibitionism it made for a fun short plot. I felt bad for Dante’s dilemma toward the end of the story and hoped it’d work out.

| Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, male/male sexual practices, ménage (m/m/f), and voyeurism. Review: This was a fast paced and erotic story. Amber Skyze wrote a tale that had me glued to the pages. Adrift is full of love and beautiful love scenes that are shared between Kari, Ben, and Adam. Kari never thought she would surrender to love again, but she is powerless when it comes to Ben and Adam. As a reader, you will enjoy their journey and honest expressions of love throughout the story. Ben, Adam, and Kari are three different people, but they all shared one thing in common, pain. Each character had a story and background that brought something to the tale and gave it more dimension. I was delighted with the happily ever after ending, but it left me wanting more of these three characters. |
