If life is like a box of chocolates, Cat Butler has
tasted them all—and decided on none. It's no wonder she can't keep a job, even
though her mother's health depends on it. Just when she finds herself up a
creek without a paddle—again—a benevolent friend throws her a lifeline. In the
form of a job at, of all places, a phone sex hotline. Not exactly what she had
in mind, but if it pays the bills for her mom's expensive nursing home, what's
the harm?
Successful entrepreneur Flynn
McGrady knows a thing or two about responsibility. So when his mother has a
stroke, he knows the right thing to do is relocate to Atlanta to be near her
while she recovers. He's got a plan for everything—except for feisty Cat, who
finally gets his mama to talk again. Talk dirty, that is, and he's not pleased.
Cat is gorgeous and sassy to boot…too bad she's not the type to settle down.
Cat and Flynn may have bigger fish to fry, but the sparks between them
are hotter than hell. And when they finally give in to temptation, the results
are explosive. Can a girl who follows her heart and a guy who follows his head
find their way to forever?
Review:
The
Siren Review Policy is clearly stated on our site, but this author wanted it
stated that this was an advanced reader copy given freely for an honest review. That being stated, let’s get to the good
stuff.
I
absolutely loved the wonderful, colorful cast of characters that Dakota Cassidy
developed for Talk This Way. The main
characters Catherine Butler, Flynn McGrady, and Landon Wells were easy to
connect with emotionally which made the story even more fun to read.
The
dialogue between characters is witty, sarcastic, and humorous and had me laughing
out loud. Abandonment and commitment
issues as well as serious illness balanced the story and had me sobbing at one
point. This story will send you through
the emotional wringer, but leave the reader with hope at the end.
Catherine
Butler is dealing with both abandonment and commitment issues stemming from her
broken home. She has trouble keeping
jobs and getting close to men, but that doesn’t stop her from opening her heart
to other people at her Mom’s nursing home.
Catherine’s outgoing personality and big mouth get her in trouble at
work when she is confronted by Flynn McGrady.
Flynn
McGrady just wants the best care for his mother. He’s not looking to start a relationship with
anyone. Especially not Catherine who
seems to be growing on him. Soon she’s
doing a little more than that as they light the pages on fire with their
explosive passion. They just might be
what each of the other needs.
While
Catherine and Flynn are discovering each other, Landon Wells is in the
background pulling their strings. I
found Landon to be the Willy Wonka of phone sex companies.
Talk
This Way is a fantastic kick off to a new series by Dakota Cassidy. I’ll be following along to see what happens
next to this cast of characters.
