This is the story of Zoe Tempests’ coming of age. What start out as a slightly frivolous, intelligent seventeen year old, ends as a worldly wise budding vampire hunter with paranormal skill of her own.

This was an excellent read, and did not put the story down. Vampire Island is designed to be young adult paranormal romance. The storyline does not really cross the boundaries of the boy attracted to girl stage and as such is suitable for younger age groups.

The author’s writing draws the reader through the story of young Zoe and her tragic loss. From there, one experiences the disbelief of Zoe’s new situation and finally reaches acceptance and a new found happiness.

Many characters are introduced and all were well handled. This story clearly is meant to be part of a series and should be noted as such. Once I reached the finale, I was left waiting for the next instalment. Sandra Cox has done a fabulous job with Vampire Island. ‘Tween and teen paranormal fans take note. This could become a wonderfully fun series.
