Blurb/Summary:

He rode into town to buy supplies, not a woman.

For hunted recluse Rafe McBride, the raven-haired beauty on the auction block is exactly what he doesn't need. A dependent woman will be another clue his vengeful stepbrother can use to find and kill him. But Rafe's conscience won't let him leave another innocent's virginity to the riff-raff bidding. He buys her, promising to return her to St. Louis untouched. He only prays the impending blizzard holds off before her sultry beauty breaks his willpower.

She wanted freedom, not a lover.

Whisked to the auction block by her devious, gambling cousin, and then sold into the arms of a gorgeous stranger, outspoken artist Maggie Monroe isn't about to go meekly. Especially when the rugged mountain man looks like sin and danger rolled into one. But a blizzard and temptation thrust them together, and Maggie yearns to explore her smoldering passion for Rafe.

But when the snow clears, will the danger and secrets that surround Rafe and Maggie tear them apart?

Review:

Rafe’s Redemption by Jennifer Jakes is a heart melting read. My stomach lurched in the opening scene with Maggie. I couldn’t imagine being a part of a time where men were completely in charge and could do as they wished to women in their family.

Although Rafe wasn’t looking for a woman he did what he thought was right and with his decision his life changed for the better. Maggie might not have wanted to have a man hold control over her again, but she hadn’t met a man of Rafe’s caliber before. Rafe’s secrets and the danger lurking in the shadows for Maggie made for a suspenseful read.

I admired Maggie’s strength as a survivor and a woman who took care of what she said was hers, and Rafe’s stubborn male attitude. These two selfless individuals deserved a break. The tension and sexual passion grew with each passing scene and watching it culminate and the two of them learn to trust one another was an immense joy.

I’d recommend this story as a have to read.
