Blurb/Summary:

Echoes of tragedy fill the walls of Campbell’s Folly.

Contractor Noah Chase heard mournful cries inside the castle when he was a boy. Now he’s returned to Sussex-On-Delaware to restore the castle and set the spirits free. To succeed, he must face his past, gain the town's cooperation, and come to terms with the emotions the sexy photographer he hires inspires inside his heart.

Lilly Briton has ghosts of her own. After a bitter divorce and estrangement from her family, the last thing she wants is to return to Sussex-On-Delaware. Hired as a photographer to chronicle the castle's restoration, she unwillingly finds herself falling for Noah.

Together they attempt to uncover the mystery surrounding Campbell's Folly and its curse. Yet before they can help the spirits of star-crossed lovers, they must deal with the past and the presence of an evil entity set on destroying them all.

Review:
Ghosts, a mystery and love. What could be better?

Echoes In Stone is a mixture of the above and so much more.  MK Mancos writes one heck of a tale that kept me up into the odd hours of the night, just to finish.  Noah and Lilly have a long way to go for their chance at happiness, but the path taken leads them down an exciting road.  The great description and fun dialogue keep the book fresh.  I enjoy this author's writing style very much.  It's easy to follow along and easy to get lost, shutting out everything else around.

If you pick up this book, clear your calendar.  It's a read in one sitting type of story!

Blurb/Summary:

From the time Carrie Taylor discovered the magical worlds of romance novels, she has devoured them one right after the other. She not only thrilled to each new hero, one more dashing than the one before. Carrie clearly saw herself as each beautiful heroine waiting to be rescued

by each daring hero. And then one day, she brought home a photograph. A very special photograph and suddenly her imaginary hero turned into a living and breathing man. Or did he?

At one time Black Eagle scoffed at the girls of his village wishing on a falling star. And yet his one great wish, that of a woman of his own, was never realized. And then one night, he wished upon a star. Can the love of a man from the past help a modern woman with her modern problems in a modern world?

Review:

Carrie has plenty of problems, but she escapes them every time she reads a romance novel. But she dreams, and daydreams of a romance novel worthy hero of her own.

And then there he is. Just like out of a book. But, wait, this can't be. Because fiction is...well, fiction. No matter how much you want it to be real.

Black Eagle comes from a different time. His feelings for Carrie he can't hide. But the differences between them are so great.

The Photograph is a fun-filled time travel romance. The characters are likable and realistic. The magic that is time travel within this book was done beautifully. I enjoyed this book, and wouldn't hesitate to pick up another title with the name Reagan Taylor. Readers, looking for something fun and exciting? Look no further than The Photograph.

Blurb/Summary:

The Dragonfly Chronicles

Orphanage director by day, jewel thief by night. Using her magic to rob from the rich to keep the orphanage running seems like the perfect solution until Kat steals from the wrong man, a man who sees through her magic, a man who can see the scars she hides from the world.

Toren MacCallum is cursed. An old witch tore him from his sixteenth century world and threw him into the twenty-first century. But he’s found an ancient dragonfly necklace to bait the witch to return him to his time. For he must find a way home to save his sister and his clan from disappearing off the pages of history.

When a mysterious woman steals the necklace in front of a hundred witnesses, the witch, followed by a storm of demons, sends Kat and him to Elizabethan England. Toren agrees to return the necklace, but he won’t give up the greater prize, the thief who’s stolen his heart.

Review:

Being of Scottish descent and actually descended from clan MacCallum, I chose to review this book for purely selfish reasons. I felt it would be interesting to read a romance based upon my own clan instead of say, the time traveling Frasers, and yes, I've read those too. Having said that, I truly enjoyed this story!

A time traveling witch, who does not know she's from possibly a thousand or more years ago, who is also a cat burglar with a robin hood complex, meets a time traveling Laird of a beleaguered Elizabethan Scottish clan, while trying to abscond with his magic necklace. Through the efforts of the spirit of another deceased witch they are tossed back and forth through time to avoid an evil that is out to steal Kat's powers and destroy the world.

This appears to be the third instalment in a series, which I only became aware of when Ms. McCollum introduced the other two sisters and they had already found their mates. Being a third book made absolutely no difference to the story, although I believe I would have enjoyed it even more had I read the first two first. There will, I think be a forth book as Kat has a “missing” twin sister. It was also alluded to that there is an unknown fifth brother or sister out there that even the helpful dragonfly witch spirit seemed ignorant of.

This book was very well written and engaging. This is the kind of tale that won't allow you to put the book down. It will keep you up late into the wee hours with red eyes until you've turned the final page. You will love it!!

Traveling forward in time, Dani Howard’s spirit becomes magically united with that of reporter Troy Brennan. He’s everything a girl could want in a man, and she falls deeply in love. Though she must return to her own body and her own time, she gains his promise to come to her birthday party in seven days so they can meet as separate entities. Only too late does she realize she should have told him about the number of years those days will equal in her life.

Troy can’t believe he has fallen for a sixteen-year-old spirit invader. Yet he’s so infatuated that when beautiful and renowned author Ellie Ward comes on to him, as attractive—as familiar—as he finds her, he’s honor bound to stay true to his young love. Or is he?

Review:

What a magical, funny and touching story! Very unique and enjoyable. Together Again delivers a delightful tale of intrigue. The plot is original and keeps the reader totally in tune. I didn't want to turn away from this story for anything! With a hint of magic and time travel, I devoured the novel from start to finish. I had to know how Dani could travel and become a part of someone else's body and mind. There are scenes that made me laugh because of the situations, and there are some very touching moments throughout as well.

If you're looking for something very different, I don't hesitate to recommend this book. Together Again, to put it simply, should not be missed! It's got a bit of everything for romantics to fall in love with. Mimi Barbour, I give you much kudos for having such an imagination to write a story of this type. It's beautiful. I need more!

Blurb/Summary:

Re-join famous detectives, adventurers and general rum-goings-on putter-stopperers Dalton Quayle and his sidekick Dr. Humphrey Pemberton as they embark on some of their best, and most loved, investigations from the past decade.

Thrill as they face giant carnivorous worms and fiercely vicious monster sheep; marvel as they visit far-off lands such as the Island of Haintithot and the sandy dunes of Egypt, coming across magical stones which can summon demons and a Mummy out to take over the world; gasp in disbelief as our heroes set sail to find the legendary lost city of Matalantis -- by way of the fishy village of Outsmouth -- and get saddle-sore in the Wild West as they attempt to put a stop to a devilish time traveling scheme; then, witness the dead coming back to life as the pair tackle their most dangerous foes yet -- ones which simply cannot be killed!

Villains, monsters, twisted conundrums, they’re all in here: In the very finest Adventures of Dalton Quayle (as previously noted down on the memoirs of Dr. Pemberton and subsequently published in Strump magazine).

From the fevered imagination of award-winning author Paul Kane (FunnyBones, Arrowhead, The Lazarus Condition, The Hellraiser Films and their Legacy) comes a collection of stories that will make you laugh, cry (with laughter), then laugh some more. Humorous horrors to brighten the day of even the most discerning genre connoisseur.

Review:

The Adventures of Dalton Quayle by Paul Kane was a well written and amusing collection of adventures. The adventures seem to take place in an alternative England of possibly the late 1800’s or early 1900’s. There are carriages and housekeepers, private doctors and the beginnings of flight. There is where similarities part ways. In Kane’s England mummies and zombies walk, there are giant partially sentient worms, Atlantis is bent on world domination and there is the distinct chance of a mauling by were-sheep if you happen to be wandering the dales under the light of the full moon.

Dalton Quayle and his sidekick Dr. Humphrey Pemberton have a Sherlock Holmes type relationship. Mr. Quayle solves the mysteries while Dr. Pemberton tags along, misunderstands everything and finally writes it all up into memoires (once it all has been sufficiently explained to him). The stories are full of puns and movie references which are quite amusing and would appeal to avid readers of Pratchett or Anthony. I also think that being short tales, this would be a suitable read for a tween. There are some off color puns within the stories but nothing more than one might find in a Shrek cartoon. Of the tales, my own favourite was Dalton Quayle and the Curse of King Tuti Fruiti. It was the longest tale, I think, and contained many references to the Mummy movies.

The book has an appealing layout. The cover is very attractive and gives that old leather diary feel. On the whole, it is a fun collection of tales to peruse. Personally, I enjoyed how many correlations I could make between references within the adventures to various movies, books and actual history that may have inspired each tale. The banter between the characters also had a silly light-hearted feel which Paul Kane ended just as it got to be a bit too much each time. On the whole, for a short, amusing bit of fun, I would definitely recommend The Adventures of Dalton Quayle.

Series: Art of Love

But with his muscular body, longer hair and a few well-placed scars, Stephanie’s lord is definitely no Regency dandy. Her best work ever, the painting stirs an obsession Stephanie can’t explain. Not content to wait for the next class, she visits the art center, just to get a peek at her lord. She touches the painting…

And suddenly finds herself in a bedroom in 1817 London, her lord standing behind her—very real, very naked and very ready to end Stephanie’s sexual dry spell.

Before she can say “ton”, Stephanie’s indulging her desires with Gabriel, dressing in the height of Regency fashion and meeting the Prince Regent. But life in 1817 isn’t all tea and crumpets. Stephanie soon learns she’s reliving her past life—one that ended tragically. Thrust in the middle of a sinister plot, she must save the prince, save Gabriel…and if she’s luckier this time around, save herself.

Review:

I was instantly captivated in this storyline. Ms. Roberts has a way with her words to draw her readers into a deep trance and have them reading the story beginning to end in anticipation of what is going to happen next.

I love stories that give the heroine a chance to right any wrongs she may have or an opportunity to relive their lives. The only thing about this story I had a problem with was it was a little too predictable. You know the ending before you read it. And of course there was a fairy godmother. But it is a sweet, charming read that I would recommend to anyone wanting to read a romance for the ages.

Review:

A Winter’s Night is a chilling, paranormal short story about four women who happen to have the power to control the elements.

I really enjoyed reading this short story because the writer pulls you in with a punched up, intense prologue. Usually a prologue in a story this short is pretty pointless, but McGaha nailed her opening with incredibly imagery and mysterious dialogue.

After the prologue it only gets better. The story is simply well written with good pacing and excellent characterization. The plot is brilliant with a jaw dropping battle for earth and an ending that literally made me say out loud, “What the hell?”

This short story is highly recommended by the reviewer.

Blurb/Summary:

The most valiant time guardian saves his soul mate from an unorthodox time traveler wanting to steal her heart to gain control of the timeline.

Murdo McEwen's stuck in present-day Scotland with a bent time-travel key and only swordsmith, Katie Innis, can repair it. Duty requires he return to his time. His ticket home relies on a lonely woman haunted by more than the apparitions visiting her. Her track record with men keeps her distant. And ghostly events keep pushing them closer together. Earning her trust will require the kind of patience only a valiant time guardian learns during his twenty years of apprenticeship. If time-travel duty, romance, and a bit of magic don’t help them realize their destiny resonates in mysterious fairy SWORDSONG, all known history could change.

Review:

I have mixed feelings about Swordsong. The blurb sounded so intriguing, and the first few chapters were engaging and kept me going. But somewhere after that, things just got a little bit confusing. The heroine's friends drove me crazy, for one, with their constant bickering and one's snotty, jealous, childish attitude. There wasn't too much interaction between the hero and heroine. There were also a few inconsistencies with the characters.

Now, the cover is absolutely gorgeous. Breathtaking and colourful. The writing style is great and the author has a wonderful imagination. The plot is pretty unique and had some great scenes. I have a weakness for time travel romances, which is what lured me to this book in the first place. Mixed feelings aside, I would still check out other titles by this author.

Officer Todd Blakely knows Myra is hiding something , but can't resist her innocent charms. Destiny throws them both into a world of intrigue and mysticism. Can Todd be the true white knight she needs? Or will magic and the winds of time tear them apart?

Review:

Silent Vows is a refreshing treat! A beautifully written time travel romance, filled with characters that breathe life on and off the pages, the kind that sticks with the reader after the book is finished. Add in some magic, and a villain who will stop at nothing to get what they want and you have Silent Vows.

I got the impression that there are books connected to this one. There are a lot of secondary characters of which a few may have had a story prior, and I'm hoping that two other characters will get their own story.

This is the kind of book that readers will read again and again, it takes your mind away from the real world. The cover of Silent Vows is absolutely stunning.

This was my first time reading Catherine Bybee, but with stories such as this, it won't be my last.

Blurb/Summary:

Drawn to the attic in her new home, Amelia finds a saucy nineteenth-century wench dress. At first glance, it’s just a dress, but once she dons it, desire streaks through her and she’s transported to the past. Overwhelmed by lust, she is caught pleasuring herself, discovered by the most gorgeous man she’s ever seen, who turns out to be—her lover?

Amelia and Emmet join in an explosive sexual union, erasing the months—or is it centuries?—they have been apart as though they never existed. But suddenly Amelia awakes—alone.

Until the dress calls again.

Emmett’s not the only one lusting after Amelia. Lord Graham wants her and he doesn’t fight fair. He kidnaps her, sends Emmett on a deadly errand and forces Amelia to participate in his voyeuristic games. Although Amelia’s body betrays her, she vows to remain true to Emmett, but will he return? And can she escape the clutches of Lord Graham’s debauchery? Amidst subterfuge, treachery and murder, Amelia and Emmet’s love grows and they reach new heights of carnal passions.

Review:

The beginning captured me from the get go. I was totally captivated during both the previous life and present lives of Amelia and Emmet. I love a great villain and Graham was the perfect one. He made my skin crawl and although he wasn’t the same in the present life, he made it crawl all the more.

There’s something to be said about circumstance in the old days and the station of life being less than what women deserved. I loved the grit and heart in Amelia’s character and the love Emmet showed by just loving her for her. I was rooting in the present they might find one another and begin another fantastic journey.

This read is one I’ll read time and time again.

Best Little Spin Wash in Texas is an irresistible, charming read. That being said, I did have a few issues. I think that the story could have gone on longer, with much more description and a few holes filled. The premise of the story really intrigued me, but I felt as if things could have been explained more.

The writing is good, the story line kept me going and I finished it quickly. The first few chapters when Molly and Jon met up at the spin wash, they couldn't keep their hands off each other, and then a few chapters in came the real shocking part of the story, one I didn't expect!

Blurb/Summary:

Sixteenth-century Highland laird Camden MacLeod wakes up in the modern world. Confused with his surroundings, he haphazardly throws on his kilt and goes in search of whoever has played such a foul trick on him. What he finds instead is beyond tempting…

Valerie is thoroughly exploring the medieval Scottish castle she’s rented for her best friend’s bachelorette party. Not only does an oddly shaped stone in tower catch her fancy—it somehow brings her dream man to life.

Review:

Valerie is drawn to the Isle of Skye in Scotland. A love of castles and tales of clans and honour is one reason she uprooted from England, and indulged her love of books by purchasing a local bookstore.

While organising a bevy of hot, kilted highland dancers for her friend’s bachelorette party, she gets a little more than she bargained for when the old faerie magic takes a hand in her fate, and draws her soul mate warrior from the very history she adores.

Unlike some stories of this type, which sacrifice actual ‘story’ for a plethora of sexual encounters, this tale blends those two aspects well. Definitely on the more tasteful side of erotica, which is brought about by the deeper connection between the two main characters, this book was a pleasure (no pun intended!) to read.

I am usually rather sceptical about the historical accuracy of some tales based on Celtic legends, being of that heritage myself; this story flows easily and is clearly well researched. My only criticism is that when referring to Scotch, whisky is spelt without the additional ‘e’.

Based on this book, the first I have read from this author, I’d definitely look up her other titles.
