Blurb/Summary:

A Mafia Princess disguised as a boy…

Jessina:
Running from a loveless marriage, I disguised myself and tricked my way aboard the starship captained by my Fated Mate. Only Turk doesn’t know we’re meant to be together and how can I tell him when he thinks I’m a boy? I don’t dare reveal my true identity but what happens when my body starts craving his and he finds out who I really am? Will he believe we’re meant to be together…or send me back to the cruel old man who paid for me?

A Mafia Captain tricked into hiring his Fated Mate

Turk:
I thought there was something strange about my new crew member. He was so quiet and shy—and much too pretty to be male. But he was also the best damn navigator I’d ever seen. Still, why did I feel so drawn to him? It didn’t make sense—I’m no lover of males. When another crew member attacked him, I was forced to take him into my own cabin to protect him. But then our bodies started reacting and the cravings began. Little did I know that the pretty new navigator was hiding a secret that would blow my life apart…

Author’s Note—
Savage Union is a secret identity, forbidden fruit, Dark Alien Mafia Romance—the second book in the Brutal Universe Series. It can be read as a stand-alone novel, but you might enjoy it more if you read Cruel Union, the first book in the series first.

Enter The Brutal Universe

Years ago everyone who could afford it left the dying Earth and traveled to the stars. There, humanity found that they were not alone—there was plenty of sentient life to connect with…if they wanted to.

A core group of humans refused to have anything to do with the aliens. The Untainted, as they chose to call themselves, have pure human blood in their veins—their DNA has remained unchanged for centuries. They marry each other and do their best to ignore the outsiders—but there are some who are hard to ignore…for instance, the Brutal Crime Lords.

The Brutal Crime Organization operates like the Cosa Nostra back on Dying Earth. Made up of four different Alien Crime families, they rule over whole sectors of the Imperium Galaxy and extract tribute from anyone living in their territory. The Brutes, as they are called, have inhuman lusts. Always searching for their Fated Mate, once they find her, they develop The Thirst which compels them to taste her juices. Some have tails and most have horns. All of them have special equipment that’s big enough to split a woman in two…or give her pleasure beyond her wildest dreams.
When a woman enters a Permanent Binding with a Brute, she can never, ever be free of him.

*Author's Note--I hope you'll enjoy this new series--I wanted to take Mafia Romance themes and tropes and put them in a sci-fi setting filled with cruel and irresistible Alien Mafia Enforcers. Expect to find Love and Betrayal, Enemies to Lovers, and growly, grumpy Morally Grey Heroes determined to find their Fated Mates at all costs.

The Four Families

Clan Cruel--these Alien Mafiosos carry a Darkness inside them that other Clans fear
Clan Savage
-- Serpentine blood ensures these Alien Enforcers have fangs and a desire to taste their woman's blood
Clan – Vicious
--Moving neon tatts and an ability to read their enemy’s intentions are the characteristics of these Morally Grey Alien Capos.
Clan Ruthless
-- These Alien Crime Lords have bat-like wings and burning red eyes.

*All Four Clans have 3 things in common
-- Horns, Knots, and The Thirst--an insatiable desire to taste their Fated Mate

Review:

Turk and Jessina have great chemistry together. Savage Union has a fun plot with plenty of action. Evangeline Anderson uses creative descriptions of all the aliens and different worlds. The world building is fantastic. As a reminder, this book is set in the Brutal Universe not the Kindred Universe. There is a scene that may be triggering to some readers. It is on par with other scenes that this author has written so you can rest assured that there is a good outcome.

We do get to see Slade in this book as he is Turk’s best friend and Jessina’s brother. Jessina disguises herself as a boy to get on Turk’s ship. She is completely qualified for the job, but they never would have hired a woman, and she was on the run from her parents. Jessina’s disguise leads to some very sticky and even triggering situations. Once the charade is over with Jessina’s disguise there is a lot of “you’re off limits” drama coming from Turk.

I enjoyed the journey Turk and Jessina had to take to get to where they are at the end of the book. Jessina made new friends along the way and grew as a person. Savage Union has a HFN ending. Their future was not hammered out with certainty. As a reader, I would love to see how they are getting along in their new life together and how their small family unit is functioning.

Blurb/Summary:

SLADE

I knew as soon as I saw her that she was MINE.

It's called The Lightning Strike--the feeling a Brute gets when he finds his Fated Mate. I knew Aurora was my Fated Mate, but how could I get her?

She's a Princess but worse, she's Untainted with pure human DNA--they don't want anything to do with my kind. I guess I can't blame her--I'm a criminal after all. A member of the Four Families--Clan Cruel to be exact. Sure we dabble in extortion, gun-running, gambling, and illegal cloning. But that doesn't mean I won't do anything in the universe to make the curvy little human mine and taste her until she moans my name and tugs my horns.

Aurora

All I knew about Slade was that he was the Enforcer from Clan Cruel who collected our Tribute every six months. Muscles strained the expensive suits he wore and his golden eyes followed me everywhere. The way he looked at me made me quiver inside so I tried to avoid him.

I had no idea he had decided I was his Fated Mate.

Apparently, he's been watching me for years and now he sees his opportunity--my foolish younger brother has gambled away all the tribute money. With no other way to pay, I'm forced to accept his proposition--Slade wants to marry me and make me bear his heir. For six months he gets to try to impregnate me. If I get pregnant, I have to stay.

I'm not staying.

I might have to marry the huge Brute, but I'll never have his child.

Review:

Great beginning to a new series. This is NOT set in the Kindred universe. This is a whole new series with a new universe and characters. There are some science fiction similarities in the Brutal Universe that Evangeline Anderson has used before, so it will not be a complete shock to her regular readers.

I really enjoyed the power dynamic between Slade and Aurora. Even though Slade had the upper hand from the very beginning, he never forced their relationship past getting married. This is not spoiling anything for future readers as the whole point of the book is that he claims and marries her. It is what he does after the claiming that was so much fun to read. Their developing relationship journey was entertaining.

Cruel Union has a good plot, action, lots of chemistry, and strict relationship/vow rules. I like the new clan characters. They each have a distinctive look to them and an unusual moral code. The ending had a pleasant surprise. I look forward to the next book in the series.

 Blurb/Summary:

Oliver Baldwin has a problem.
And it's a big one.
He has a unicorn horn. A unicorn horn that's pink and purple and shoots glitter everywhere.
Everywhere...
But that's not all it does.
So what's a guy who, out of nowhere, has a swirly horn sprout from his head to do?
He calls the ladies of OOPS and in the process gets a bird's eye view of a world he never knew existed.
The good news?
Oliver meets a woman named Vinnie who just might change his mind about never falling in love again.
The bad news?
It's really hard to find the time to get to know someone you think might be the woman of your dreams when you have crazy unicorn hunters hot on your tail, a handful of gods and goddesses who'd like nothing more than to hack your horn off for its special power...
Oh, and the threat of imminent death...

Review:

The Accidental Unicorn has all the OOPs ladies and their entourage helping Oliver deal with the alicorn protruding from his head. This story has meddling mothers and Goddesses causing no end of drama and trouble for the main characters Oliver and Vinnie.

Both Oliver and Vinnie have been burned in their past relationships.  Could this crazy situation with pink and purple glitter bring them together?  Can you form a relationship under stressful circumstances and expect it to last? Read this unique unicorn story and find out!

The story has a great plot that keeps moving. Plenty of action and cussing from Nina, and lots of animals and babies to keep everyone happy. Kudos to Katie Woods for the beautiful and whimsical cover art.

Not sure what’s left to turn accidentally, but I don’t think Dakota Cassidy did Big Foot yet! Can’t wait to find out what she comes up with next.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

Blurb/Summary:

New York Times Bestseller Dianna Love's latest urban fantasy is a high-action roller coaster ride in the deadly preternatural world of the Beladors and their dragon king.
Cosaint: An ancient rule meant to protect that may backfire on the Beladors.
The dragon king loses all patience with the VIPER coalition and declares an ancient rule of cosaint to protect his people, but it may backfire on him. Atlanta’s preternatural underworld is ready to explode just as Vladimir Quinn gets a vital lead on his missing daughter … and so does his enemy. When he faces an unimaginable sacrifice to save his child, the only person who can help him is the one woman he never expected to see again who shows up with her own secret agenda.
Alliances are tested. Secrets are exposed. Battle lines are drawn in blood as Atlanta heats up.

Review:

The Belador Series is like a fabulous fantasy/paranormal soap opera and readers are left on pins and needles waiting for the next episode.

Dianna Love knows how to keep her readers entertained and engaged.  I’m thankful that her imagination is out of this world because it makes for some incredible stories.

Belador Cosaint is the story around Quinn locating his hidden daughter.  However, it’s never that easy.  Every power player in the paranormal world wants to locate Quinn’s daughter to use for their own sick, twisted plans.

Quinn finds help in an unsuspecting friend.  He’s still wary of Reese since she bailed without a word in Atlanta, but there is something compelling about her that he can’t let go.

Quinn and Reese’s interests are aligned in the fact that they both want Quinn’s daughter, Phoedra, safe.  Quinn’s quest becomes a journey with Reese at his side fighting with him and for him.  Being together brings out the best in each of them.

There is a little bit of history in this book so if you need a refresher on some issues you’ll get it.  There is also a romantic relationship that develops between Quinn and Reese which shouldn’t be a surprise based on the previous book.  However, I found this to tend toward more hard-core paranormal action.  So fear not all you fantasy fans!

There are so many plot twists and surprises throughout Belador Cosaint.  If you’re a Belador fan this is a don’t miss book!

I received an ARC to read for this review.

Blurb/Summary:

The Treoir dragon holds the fate of the Beladors in one hand ... and his own in the other.

The Beladors finally have a true leader in Daegan, their new dragon king, but life is far from secure now that they've inherited his enemies. As their Maistir, Vladimir Quinn played a risky role in freeing the dragon from the lair of their enemy, the Medb. Quinn now faces a heavy price for his part. The Medb queen is out for blood. Vigilante killings erupt among Atlanta's secret preternatural community and all fingers point to the Beladors.  The dragon king has his first real test as a ruler when he has to choose between protecting his people and entering a hostile realm full of deities capable of killing a dragon.  But as a two-thousand-year-old warrior, Daegan has never shied away from any battle.  Quinn, Evalle, Storm and friends race to discover who is trying to turn the entire VIPER coalition against the Beladors before war breaks out. With the clock also ticking down for Quinn, who has been ordered to hand over Kizira's body to the Medb queen, Daegan reveals an even greater reason to prevent the queen from using necromancy on the body beyond the secrets Quinn protects.

Freedom is never free. Not when the powerful gods and goddesses poised to decide Quinn's fate see an opportunity to also destroy a threat to their existence - the last dragonshifter.

Review:

Dianna Love is the master of subplots!  There is so much going on in this book.  Dragon King Of Treoir is action-packed paranormal fiction sprinkled with romance, mystery, intrigue, and suspense.

You would think by the title that this was going to be all about Daegan the Dragon King, but it is so much more.  The main plot picks up from book seven and continues Quinn’s journey.  Dianna Love cleverly introduces a new character into the mix at the beginning that plays a vital role in this story and hopefully stories to come.  Then we are treated to all the subplots and machinations going on in the periphery of the main storyline.  Between the Medb, Macha, Dakkar, Evalle, Storm, Adrianna, Isak, Quinn, the new character Reese, and the new threat to everyone’s existence there is no slowing down once you pick this book up and start reading.

This book does not have as much of a romance undertone to it as past books.  There seemed to be more action and maneuvering of characters.  Dragon King Of Treoir is setting up the next part of Dianna’s series by putting all the characters out there and defining their roles in the war to come.  Dianna Love set up the characters in a way that gave us several stories going on simultaneously.  It was very intriguing and engaging!

If you are just new to The Belador Series, then start from the beginning so you can experience the journey as the author intended.  If you are a fan of the series, then don’t miss this installment or you will be lost for what is to come.

All of the books we receive at Siren Book Reviews are complimentary in exchange for an honest review.

Review:

Absolutely amazing sums up Rogue Belador quite nicely.  This book had me enraptured from beginning to end.  Rogue Belador is book seven in The Belador Series, and while it is a wonderful book on its own, I would highly recommend reading the entire series so that you too have an amazing experience.

The characters in this book just stay with you days after reading the book.  The story continues to play in my head and I can’t wait for the next installment of this series.  I will not give out any spoilers because that would just ruin your adventure.  What you need to know is that the plot clips along, lots of secrets come out, some things are put to rest from previous plots, and some things are put into motion at the conclusion of this story.  You can see now why you will need to brush up or pick up the previous books.  Run to the library, download them on your electronic devices, or buy them in the store.  You will not be disappointed.

Dianna Love did a fantastic job of balancing the story and romance between Tzader and Brina.  For those Storm fans there is also more juicy tidbits between him and Evalle.

Rogue Belador is an action packed book from beginning to end.  All your favorite characters end up on stage in this book at some point, and we are introduced to several more.  If you have been waiting for answers from the previous stories your wait is over until the next adventure!

Blurb/Summary:

No one knows better than Tommy Hopkins why Anya Blanchett had to leave the town she grew up in; her family was murdered, her house burned, and she’s the next target. Tommy knows—because Anya’s on the run from his own family-owned company, WFG Ltd, whose incredible wealth is based on one single thing: the vast power they drain from witches. And Anya is a witch. Anya’s love for Tommy is too strong for her to withstand; she cannot stay away from him. When she returns to the little town of Manning, Tommy becomes more determined than ever to ensure her safety, no matter the cost. But Tommy isn’t the only member of the Hopkins family aware of Anya’s return. His cousin, Kinsey Hopkins, has been searching for Anya since her escape. Kinsey has dark and evil plans, for Anya, for Tommy, and for the very future of WFG. Tommy will do anything to protect Anya from Kinsey and WFG. But can he? Or will the three-hundred-year-old curse cast upon his bloodline finally destroy him and the girl he loves more than life itself?

Review:

Balefire and Lodestone is the sequel to Gael’s Balefire and Moonstone. When I began reading I crossed my fingers in hopes that the second book in this series would be as good as the first and unfortunately…

It was just so much better.

The book picks up with Anya Blanchett, the powerful young fire witch returning to her hometown after a necessary exile. When she returns home Anya has one very important thing on her mind, Tommy Hopkins, the love of her life and also the very last person she should be running to upon her return home.

But you can’t exactly stay away from someone you’ve bound to yourself with the consuming magic of fire. Soon, Anya and Tommy are reunited, which is when the danger begins. Now, Tommy has to try and protect the girl he loves from his cousin Kinsey, who seems to have less than honourable intentions for her.

I have to say that I just adore Anya. In the first book she was likeable in an awkward sort of way, but you see her grow in this novel into a feisty, fiery witch that is an addictive heroin.

Balefire and Lodestone is one of those rare novels that you hate to see end, lucky for the reviewer and the fans alike…The Balefire Chronicles are not over.

This is a must read for any fans of paranormal romance.
